Mokokchung, October 28 (MTNews): Addressing members of the Nagaland sports contingent who have been selected to represent Nagaland in the upcoming NE Olympic Games in Shillong, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio announced cash prizes to medal winners on Thursday at an event in Hotel Vivor, Kohima.

 

He also announced that gold medal winners will receive Rs. 50,000, silver medal winners will receive Rs. 25000, and bronze medal winners will receive Rs. 10000. He also encouraged the athletes to train hard and expressed his best wishes for a successful Olympic.

The Northeast Olympic Games will be held in Shillong, Meghalaya, from October 30 to November 6, 2022.

 

 

Except Swimming Nagaland contingent will participate in all 17 discipline: Abu Metha

 

Meanwhile, Nagaland Olympic Association Secretary General Abu Metha announced that a large Nagaland contingent, consisting of athletes, officials, and coaches, will depart for Shillong on November 8.

He also stated that Nagaland will compete in 17 sports at the upcoming games.

 

“Except Swimming Nagaland contingent will participate in all 17 discipline,” he said.

He went on to say that the NOA had hired two coaches from the Athletes Federation of India (AFI) to help the athletes prepare for the games.

He also expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for the initiatives taken to promote sports and athletes in the state.

The Nagaland Olympic Association is conducting rigorous training for the event at various locations.
