* Rs 35.24 Crore spent under PMKSY-WDC alone in Mokokchung district

* LRD spends money in Tsudiyim village under Mokokchung district – but the village does not exist

* More than Rs 25 lakhs spent on Tsudiyim village since 2015-2021

In a startling revelation, two RTI activists have claimed that the Land Resources Department has “established a new village named Tsudiyim under Mokokchung District and provided a huge amount of money by enlisting beneficiaries’ names randomly.”

RTI activist Odi Jamir and ST Yapang Longkumer citing an RTI reply said that the Land Resources Development had been fraudulently drawing money by carrying out many activities in Tsudiyim village – a village they claim does not exist under Mokokchung District.

They also pointed out that the department, in one instance, had spent a sum of Rs 50,000 during 2019-20 for a training in Tsudiyim village where 60 “ghost” trainees attended.

Further, the activists claimed that during the financial year 2019-20, the highest amount of money, a sum of Rs 11,82,540 was given to people of Tsudiyim village.

Further, according to the activists, the RTI reply they received stated that a sum of Rs 35.244 Crore was spent in Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana – Watershed Development Component (PMKSY-WDC) scheme alone in Mokokchung district.

The activists claimed that when they shared the RTI replies in different social media, “many beneficiaries were not aware of the amount against their name in the beneficiary list.”

“Some departments in Nagaland show huge expenditure in training, refreshments and purchase of training materials like pen, writing pad, etc. This method is the easiest way to pocket some cash in Nagaland. We opine that LRD is also aware of such a method,” the activists said.

They further added that out of many trainings conducted by the department, at one instance in Tsudiyim Village during 2017-18, the department spent Rs 87,500 where 82 people attended the training.

“From 2015-16 to 2020-21, apart from supplying plant saplings, LRD has shown an expenditure of around Rs 25,22,040 for the Tsudiyim village alone. We are not aware how much money was spent prior to 2015 and post 2021 at Tsudiyim village,” the activists said, adding that it is about time the LRD “officially delete the Tsudiyim from the list of villages under Mokokchung district.”
