Salangtem Ward Yimden in Mokokchung Town has installed several closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras within its jurisdiction at strategic locations. The CCTV camera installations were done on September 29 and 30, which were all installed wholly funded by and under the initiative of the ward authority (Yimden).
Speaking to Mokokchung Times, Salangtem Ward chairman Lanuakum stated that the CCTV cameras were installed as a community street monitoring measure as well as to deter potential criminals and anti-social elements.
Salangtem ward is one of the centrally located wards in Mokokchung town with a number of public institutions like schools and offices as well as commercial market area within their jurisdiction. Salangtem ward is one of the most progressive wards in Mokokchung town and earlier this year, on June 5, they also launched a utility-based geospatial mapAMP which is a first in Mokokchung.
