‘Save Nagaland, Join the Revolution’ – Kahuto Chishi’s election campaign begins

Dimapur, February 17 (MTNews): Kahuto Chishi, regarded as a ‘beacon of hope’ by many, a symbol of justice and meritocracy, not only to the people of his constituency but to many Nagas everywhere who want change, launched his election campaign on February 17 at Darogajan village, 3 Dimapur III AC.

Speaking at a public gathering, Kahuto Chishi Sumi, the independent candidate for Dimapur III asserted his stand that he is not desperate for power and wealth but is contesting election to ‘save Nagaland’.

During his speech, he also called out his opponents for engaging in minority politics, saying, “Appeasement of minorities is not on my agenda,” adding that he was the first to use the phrase “People of Nagaland” in Nagaland.

“I am the first person to use Garo, Kachari, Kuki, and Karbi… Who wrote those before me?” he asked.

He further called out his opponents for playing ‘community politics’. “I don’t like people who love their community only during elections. Because election season has arrived, everyone is now saying sweet things and making promises, but where were those people during the previous years and during the lockdown?” he asked.

Chishi, loved and hated by many for his unreserved statements, launched scathing attacks on all four of his opponents. They are all business people, according to him.

“V Lasuh… He’s running for Congress, getting his money, and sitting quietly… Where has he been, and what has he done for the Chakhesang people?” Chishi asked.

He also attacked Independent candidate Lun Tungnung, claiming that he has received the “Ex-candidate” title and is only running to keep that title.

“Azheto…what has he done in 13 years? Can you tell me what he’s done in the last 13 years?” Chishi went on.

Finally, he slammed his grandniece and NDPP candidate Hekani Jakhalu as a “media celebrity as if she has solved all the unemployment problems in Nagaland,” as well as her organization, YouthNet.

“Give me the name list of the people whom she has trained. How many people has she trained over 17 years? How much money has she received from the companies, how much money has she received from the government of India, how much money has she received from the government of Nagaland, how many contracts has she undertaken? Is YouthNet an employment agency or is it a contractual agency?” he lashed out.

He went on to mock her ‘community politics,’ saying, “When she was receiving the Nari Shakti Award, she was Hekhani Jakhalu Kense, but now that the election is here, where is Kense? She is not required to justify herself”.

Chishi concluded that he is asking people to vote in order to “save Nagaland.”
