Kohima, 6 March (MTNews): The curriculum and the new syllabus for the 5th batch of the one-year Diploma in School Counseling were released today by Director, State Council of Education Research & Training (SCERT) Nagaland, Kevirale-ü Kerhuo. Releasing this during the induction program of the 5th batch of the one-year Diploma in School Counseling in Kohima, Kerhuo said that the primary objective of the course is to train teachers and provide professionally trained school counselors, ensuring that every school in Nagaland will have at least one male and one female professionally trained school counselor.
She mentioned that the training focuses on the development of knowledge, skills, and the attitude of a counselor. Kerhuo stated that the training will be given through role play, demonstration, a PowerPoint presentation, face-to-face interaction blended with regular counseling practice. Based on these objectives, a new syllabus for the one-year Diploma in School Counseling has been developed by SCERT with the help of professionals and subject experts from St. Joseph University, Chumoükedima, she said.
Stating that a lot of hard work has gone into the making of this new syllabus, Kerhuo thanked all the counselors and professionals, led by the Head of School Counseling at SCERT, for their hard work and dedication.
The Director further expressed hope that the syllabus will serve as a roadmap for both trainers and trainees, providing a clear path to achieving their desired goal.
