Sennheiser, a global leader in audio technology, in collaboration with the Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) Nagaland, successfully conducted an exclusive Masterclass on Microphone Technology at Whispering Winds on Tuesday.


Sennheiser, established in 1945 by Fritz Sennheiser in Germany, has a long history of pioneering audio technology, including the release of the MD 2 microphone in 1947 and the revolutionary HD 414 open-back headphones in the 1960s. The masterclass in Mokokchung marked another milestone in the company’s commitment to innovation and knowledge-sharing, fostering growth within Nagaland’s creative and technical community.

The workshop brought together 36 participants, including sound professionals, musicians, and tech enthusiasts, to delve into the latest advancements and trends in microphone technology.

Led by esteemed Sennheiser experts, the masterclass covered a range of topics, including cutting-edge microphone innovations, real-world applications, future industry trends, and live demonstrations. The interactive sessions allowed participants to gain hands-on insights and a comprehensive understanding of audio technology.

Suman Thakur, Head of Technical Application and Engineering for Sennheiser, expressed his excitement about engaging with the vibrant audience, stating, “It was a pleasure to engage with a passionate and talented audience. This masterclass was a step toward empowering individuals with the tools and knowledge to excel in the evolving world of audio technology.”

Rajib Biswas, Sennheiser’s representative for Eastern India, spoke to Mokokchung Times about the workshop’s purpose, saying, “The purpose is to educate the consumers about the technological update, what’s new in micing, new in sound, giving solutions to consumers.”

TaFMA’s district partner, Wati Imchen, highlighted the workshop’s focus on the needs of churches, noting, “One of the main focus points of the workshop is directed to the churches.” He explained that many churches require multiple microphones for activities such as choir groups and other events, emphasizing the importance of staying updated on sound and microphone technology. He further shared that members from several churches, including those from neighboring villages, attended the workshop to enhance their understanding of the latest innovations.
