Zunheboto, April 25 (MTNews): Sakhi-One Stop Centre Zunheboto organized one day awareness program on Violence Against Women and Children at Usutomi Village Council Hall on 25th April 2022.

Subonenba Longkumer, Nodal Director & Governing Board Member CHILDLINE India Foundation was the guest speaker. On his opening remark, he welcome the community people and laud OSC team for their visibility in the district. He further gave a brief presentation on CHILDLINE 1098 Nagaland and highlighted the activities, cases and structure of CHILDLINE 1098. He stated many cases go unreported in Nagaland due to fear and stigma of being rejected in the society.

 

In addition, he also stated Nagaland being a tribal land, children are brought up and guided well with traditional values, discipline and knowledge, which in the long run protects and indoctrinates the children from committing criminal offences. Thus, it should be passed down to the younger generation to preserve and be protected. On his concluding remark, he urged the gathering to share and pass on the information of CHILDLINE 1098 and 181 to near and dear ones.

 

Alovini Yeptho, Centre Administration, Sakhi One Stop Centre Zunheboto, spoke on legal rights for women, Domestic Violence Act 2015 on Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006. Helito L. Chophi, Case Worker OSC Zunheboto, spoke on Juvenile Justice Act, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012. Earlier in the program, Toli L Aye Counselor, Sakhi-OSC Zunheboto moderated the program where Tovi K Assumi gave the concluding remark.
