According to a fire services official, a minor fire broke out in the “forest area” of Mission Compound near Jubilee College at around 9 am Thursday, following which a team was rushed to spot.

The official said that the fire was manageable and was doused off by the team. There were no reports of injuries or casualties due to the incident, the official added.

“According to the preliminary investigation on the spot, the evidence points to a short circuit in a transformer in the area to be probable cause of the fire,” the official said.

A resident of the locality also attested that the fire broke out from the transformer. He also acknowledged the JMC students and nearby residents for helping in dousing off the wildfire.

Power supply in the area was disrupted but was soon restored after the power department personnel intervened.

“The fault in the power line may have been due to the occasional strong winds this time of the year,” the resident said.
