The District Election Office (DEO), Mokokchung, published the draft electoral rolls for all Assembly constituencies in the district and distributed copies to representatives of political parties on 20 September 2026 at the chamber of the Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung.
DC and DEO Mokokchung Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, appreciated citizens for their active participation and cooperation with the Block Level Officers (BLOs) during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. He said the exercise aimed to ensure that the electoral rolls are accurate, inclusive and up to date, while identifying duplicate and ineligible entries.
Following house-to-house enumeration and digitisation, a total of 1,56,302 pre-draft electors were identified in Mokokchung district, comprising 73,890 males and 74,512 females, according to the DEO. However, the figures provided for male and female electors total only 1,48,402 and therefore the total figure requires verification.
In reference to the 2005 electoral roll, 7,900 electors remained uncollectable due to deaths, absence, permanent shifting, prior enrolment and other reasons, the DEO said.
The DEO informed citizens that the claims and objections period will remain open from 20 September to 20 October 2026. During this period, eligible citizens may submit the prescribed forms for electoral roll-related matters, including Form 6 for inclusion of names, Form 7 for inclusion or deletion of names, and Form 8 for correction or modification of entries and other permissible changes.
The DEO further stated that electors who remain unmapped with reference to the 2005 electoral roll, as well as those whose mapping contains anomalies or discrepancies, will be served notices. The concerned electors will be given an opportunity to appear before the competent authority to establish their identity and eligibility and produce documents prescribed by the Election Commission of India. The notice and disposal process will continue until 18 November 2026.
The DEO appealed to citizens to carefully verify their names and particulars in the draft electoral rolls and submit appropriate claims or objections within the stipulated period, wherever necessary, before the final publication of the electoral roll.
