Wokha, February 23 (MTNews): Upon receiving reports of mobilization of miscreants in several parts of the area comprising 37-Tyui and 38- Wokha Assembly Constituencies which threatens free campaigning, the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan IAS has imposed section 144 of CrPC which prohibits an assembly of five or more persons and vehicular movement of non-essential nature from 5:00 PM- 5:00 AM in the areas comprising the said assembly constituencies.

 

Further, the order stated that in the area of the DC Office complex and 100 meters in its vicinity including the Wokha Public Ground, assembly of five or more persons shall be prohibited at all times till further orders.

 

Taking to twitter, DC Ajit Kumar Ranjan tweeted that three sporadic incidents of confrontation between two groups at Wokha town took place where the ‘security forces responded immediately with force and brought the situation under control within 10-15 minutes’

 

According to Ranjan, six persons have been detained and further investigation is going on. He said that all those involved will be dealt with strictly by law and added that the situation in Wokha remains ‘under control’ with security forces deployed in the area.

 

It mentioned that the imposition of CrPc 144 has come into effect from February 23 and will remain in force till March 3, 2023.
