Krishi Vigyan Kendra Mokokchung organized a six-day Skill Training course on Vermicomposting from 28th November to 4th December 2024 at KVK Mokokchung, Yisemyong. The primary objective of the program was to provide skill-based training to rural youth in agriculture-related vocational areas, aimed at promoting employment opportunities in rural areas.
The training program was organized in collaboration with the State Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Nagaland, and the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad. The course director for the training was Imtilemla, ACTO (Soil Conservation).
The topics covered in the training included the role of vermicomposting in organic farming, the duties of a vermicompost producer, vermiculture, the process of vermicomposting, vermiwash production, and its uses. Participants were given hands-on practical demonstrations of preparing a vermicompost unit at the KVK Campus.
A total of 15 youths participated in the training. Upon completion of the program, the participants were evaluated, and certificates were distributed to the attendees.
