The Spices Board, Field Office, Kohima conducted a growers training programme on large cardamom at Thetsumi village under Chizami Block, Phek district, on September 23.
The programme began with an opening prayer by Lhouvezulo Nuh, Associate Pastor, Thetsumi, followed by welcome remarks from Senupelo K. Lasuh, Village Council Chairman.
Technical sessions were conducted by David Ng, Officer-in-Charge, Spices Board, Kohima, and Kelhouzakie Chielie, District Horticulture Officer, Phek. They covered nursery establishment, plantation management, post-harvest handling, marketing, and the scope and challenges of large cardamom cultivation.
Growers also discussed viral disease identification and control, quality seeds and planting materials, and Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) guidelines.
Farmers Union Nagaland members, village council members, women and youth leaders, and progressive spice growers attended the programme.
