Kohima, 20 January (MTNews): The celebration of the Foundation Day of the states of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura took place in advance at Dr Imkongliba Ao Hall, Raj Bhavan Kohima, on Saturday. The event, graced by the Governor of Nagaland, commemorated the full-fledged statehood attained by the three states on January 21, 1972, under the North Eastern Region (Reorganisation) Act, 1971.

According to a report by PRO Raj Bhavan Kohima, the Governor emphasized the significance of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative, highlighting unity in diversity as the nation’s strength. He stated that the initiative promotes understanding and bonding between states, contributing to the unity and integrity of India by showcasing the diverse cultures, traditions, and practices of different regions.

Acknowledging the lack of awareness of various cultures, the Governor praised the program as an initiative to respect and acknowledge India’s diversity and plurality. He underscored the importance of celebrating the foundation days of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura, fostering unity and togetherness among the people of the Northeast.

The Governor emphasized the platform’s role in building bridges of mutual respect and appreciation through cultural exchanges. He congratulated participants for their performances and handed over certificates of appreciation to different unions.

Representatives from Manipur and Meghalaya spoke about their states, and the event featured diverse cultural performances, including songs, dances, and martial arts, symbolizing the unity in diversity.
