Mokokchung, 5 June (MTNews): Straightway Higher Secondary School has taken an innovative approach to instill the importance of maintaining a personal kitchen garden in young learners through the introduction of a Beginner’s Green Syllabus. The school aims to educate students about the benefits of growing their own food and developing a connection with nature through this syllabus.

As part of the program, students were provided chili seeds back in April which they showed up with saplings in pots today. The school believes that hands-on experience is crucial for the children to truly grasp the significance of maintaining a kitchen garden. By working together and nurturing their own plants, the students will learn valuable lessons about sustainability and the environment.

“We firmly believe that restoring our ecosystem begins with small actions, and we are taking practical steps towards that goal. It is essential to educate our learners to become green literates,” stated the school. They emphasized that the traditional academic learning system alone may not equip students to lead productive and self-sustainable lives.

“Along with academics, relating with nature and acknowledging our Creator in everything we do will help us live joyful lives,” the school added.
