Kohima, 2 August (MTNews): Minister for Women Resource Development & Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, addressed an interactive meeting with the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Kohima Region on Wednesday, emphasizing the need for proactive leadership and building a strong grassroots foundation.

The Minister, who is the Legislator in-charge of the NDPP Kohima Region comprising six (6) assembly constituencies, emphasized the need to build a strong foundation at the grassroots to strengthen the party and its leaders.

 

“Politics is not only during or for elections but to work for the welfare of the people,” Kruse said while addressing the party leaders. “We have to continuously strive to strengthen the party and our leaders,” she added while highlighting the “divisive forces that are always at play.”

 

Kruse also reminded the party leaders from the six ACs to work for their people as leaders representing their respective constituencies by creating awareness about the government’s schemes and policies available for the people.

 

In line with the party’s motto ‘Facta Non Verba’ (Deeds not words), Kruse asserted, “Rather than waiting to be spoon-fed, as leaders, you must work for yourself and for your people.” The Minister also emphasized unity among the party members and justice in all its endeavors.

 

While seeking the support and cooperation of the Region, she assured all possible support and cooperation towards strengthening the party in the state. She expressed optimism that together, they can fulfill the aspirations of the party for the people.

 

Acting president, PrasieliePienyü, assured to work towards strengthening the party and its leaders. He stated that the present government led by the Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, is stable and strong, and that they must strengthen the hands of the CM and the legislators. Pienyü sought the cooperation of all the party members.

 

NDPP Kohima Region general secretary, KechangulieKense, highlighted the activities of the party, such as the ‘Voluntary Task Team’ responding to crises and disasters, touring other districts, and organizing inter AC sports meets. Working president, KeduolhoulieHouzha, proposed the vote of thanks and the wrap-up.
