The Seyochung Area Students’ Union (SASU) and the Kiphire Area Students’ Union (KASU) have strongly condemned the alleged assault and attempt to murder of a woman from Langzanger Village, who is undergoing treatment at Faith Hospital, Dimapur.

According to SASU, the incident occurred on the night of May 1, 2026, and has “profoundly shaken our conscience and raised serious concerns regarding the safety and dignity of students.”

In its statement, SASU alleged that the accused, Repongli, presently residing at Jail Ward Colony, Kiphire, “allegedly carried out a brutal attack on the victim with the apparent intent to end her life.”

Describing the act as “barbaric and reprehensible,” the union said such violence is “utterly intolerable and constitutes a grave threat to the principles of humanity and justice.” SASU has demanded a “fair, swift, and uncompromising investigation,” and called for the accused to be booked under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

The union also urged that the accused face “the full force of the law,” stating that strict action is necessary to deter similar crimes in the future.

SASU expressed solidarity with the victim and her family, wishing her “complete and speedy recovery.”

In a separate statement, KASU also condemned the incident, terming it a “brutal assault and attempt to murder” and said it “will not condone such violent crimes under any circumstances.”

KASU stated that the act is “deeply damaging” and undermines “peaceful coexistence, safety, and dignity of society, particularly the safety of women.”

The union demanded immediate and stringent legal action and said justice must be delivered “swiftly and without bias.” It also called on civil society groups and citizens to collectively condemn such acts and uphold peace and justice.
