The second day of the Tsüngkamnyo cum Mini Hornbill Festival was celebrated at Yimkhiung Heritage Pungro, Kiphire, on January 16, 2025. The event was graced by KT Sukhalu, Advisor for Food & Civil Supply, Legal Metrology, as the Special Guest. It was hosted by S Kiusumew, Advisor for Home Guard & Civil Defence, Fire & Emergency Services.

In his address, KT Sukhalu highlighted that Tsüngkamnyo is a time to celebrate community and cultural heritage. He emphasized that it is an opportunity to reflect on the essence of community, noting that Nagas have coexisted harmoniously through the ages and must continue to do so. He urged the community to look ahead with optimism, focusing on prosperity and progress, and to take charge of shaping their own future.
Sukhalu stressed the importance of preserving history and tradition, pointing out that Naga culture is deeply rooted in village life, characterized by community, shared experiences, and generosity. He reminded the crowd that Naga festivals, regardless of tribe, are celebrated through collective participation in songs, dances, and feasts. He called on everyone to reject divisions within the community, urging for a united and stronger Naga identity.
Sukhalu also spoke about the growing importance of education in the modern world. He said that in today’s fast-changing environment, education alone is not enough; acquiring technical skills is essential for success and securing employment. He encouraged the youth to work hard with determination and advised parents to instill integrity and discipline in their children to help them succeed.
Addressing the issue of misinformation, Sukhalu warned about the dangers posed by false news, especially with the rise of social media and artificial intelligence. He emphasized the need for a solid educational foundation to differentiate between accurate and misleading information. He urged the gathering not to be swayed by gossip or trends, stressing that to shape their future, Nagas must be both spiritually and intellectually strong.
The celebration also featured a welcome address by Laji Luyanba, General Secretary of YTC. A short speech was delivered by NY Choba Chang, President of CKS, as the Tribal Guest.
