NSLSA Member Secretary, Victor Sema, NJS, while addressing the law students, encouraged them to work hard to develop their legal acumen so that they can establish themselves successfully in the field of law. He asserted that studying is an investment for the profession, not only during the course of their studies but also once they join practice. Sema noted that the legal profession, while being respectable, requires individuals to go the extra mile in their efforts. He advised them not to be discouraged but to maintain coherence and consistency, be ready to make sacrifices, and enjoy the learning process simultaneously.

He also highlighted that the scope of law is extensive and individuals can pursue self-employment, which can be highly lucrative if approached with dedication. Additionally, Sema pointed out other job opportunities, including judicial exams in government and other branches where individuals with a legal background are eligible to apply.

During the program, Sunjib Rana, a retainer lawyer from Kohima DLSA, interacted with the law interns, and State Panel Lawyer Cherry Ovung chaired the program. The interns shared their experiences, and certificates were also presented.

Throughout the internship program, which commenced last month, interns were given opportunities to directly observe court proceedings at the high court and subordinate courts in various districts. They were engaged in various activities organized by the District Legal Services Authorities. The interns also visited and interacted with individuals at District Jails, Old Age Homes, Children’s homes, among other places.
