Mokokchung, 10 April (MTNews): Deputy Commissioner and District Election Office, Mokokchung organized the SVEEP Inter-College Debate Competition on 10 April at Town Hall Mokokchung.

ADC Mokokchung, Chumlamo Humtsoe in his welcome address mentioned that the competition aimed to educate young voters on ethical electoral practices and instill awareness at an early stage.

Participants from People’s College, Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung College of Teacher’s Education, Shisalen Riju, and Jubilee Memorial College took part in the debate, featuring motions for and against.

Mr Asensor from Fazl Ali College was awarded as the best speaker, while the runner-up team, Miss Yimyatetla Sanglir and Mr Medemren Longchar from Jubilee Memorial College, also received recognition. The winning team comprised of Miss Sungdienla L Ozukum and Miss Nungsanglila Jamir from Shisalen Riju.

Assistant Commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar, delivered a speech on voter awareness, urging everyone to exercise their right to vote, emphasizing how votes drive political and social changes. He highlighted the responsibility of government officials to ensure fair and peaceful elections and emphasized the duty of every citizen to vote.

District SVEEP Icons, Supongsangla and Arenlong, encouraged everyone to vote, stressing the importance of each vote.

Alemyim Isaac Solo, EAC Mokokchung, concluded the event with a vote of thanks.
