Kohima, December 7 (MTNews): The Sakraba Youth Organisation (SYO) 48th general session is underway at Local Ground Sakraba Village in Phek district.
Chuba Ozukum, Consultant, Department of Justice and Law, Government of Nagaland graced the opening ceremony as inaugural guest and in his address he stated that sports is gaining popularity in the present society.
He maintained that many sports stars also rose from rural and humble beginnings and exhorted the youth to be determined to achieve great in their life and be hard working and also to aim high.
Ozukum also challenged the village to raise a leader from the village to have a representative at the legislative assembly and further carry forward the village for development and progress.
Further, he also underscored the need for preservation and promotion of indigenous sports.
Earlier, the presidential address was delivered by Nupoyi D Vadeo, while a folk dance was performed by Sunday School Students of Sakraba Baptist Church (SBC).
During the three-day meet, four Khels – Lohe, Hesuh, Basa ‘A’ and Basa ‘B’ will be competing in various sports disciplines and the closing ceremony will be held on December 10.
