Th Muivah set to revisit native village Somdal after over 50 years

KTU/NSCN calls on citizens, Civil Society, and student bodies to welcome Muivah’s historic return

In a historic moment for Nagalim, Ato Kilonser Th Muivah, Prime Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN), is set to return to his native village of Somdal on 22 October 2025, after more than fifty years. His visit will also include trips to Ukhrul and Senapati.

According to the Kuki Tribal Union (KTU/NSCN), Th. Muivah has dedicated his life to the Naga cause, shaping Nagalim’s destiny and bringing the Naga people’s history to the national and international stage. Under the leadership of the late Isak Chishi Swu and Th. Muivah, the signing of the Framework Agreement with the Government of India and the NSCN on 3rd August 2015 marked a defining milestone in Naga history.

The KTU/NSCN called on civil society organizations, churches, student bodies, and citizens acrosss Nagalim to cooperate fully and extend a warm welcome to Th Muivah and his wife. The union described the homecoming as “a deeply emotional and momentous occasion” and urged communities to unite “in a spirit of gratitude, solidarity, and profound respect” to celebrate the visit.

Th. Muivah, affectionately known as Ava Kharar, has been praised for his “unwavering commitment to the Naga cause and his vision for a sovereign Nagalim,” the union said, adding that it pledges its continued support to the NSCN/GPRN leadership in pursuit of a peaceful and lasting resolution to the Naga issue.

The Kuki Tribal Union expressed hope that the visit “brings joy, peace, and prosperity to the people of Nagalim,” and encouraged all stakeholders to participate in welcoming the historic return of Th. Muivah to his native village.
