Another band performing on Mokokchung’s World Music Day celebration is ‘The Great Decade’
After a brief hiatus, The Great Decade (TGD) will be seen sharing the same stage with the likes of ‘About Us’ and ‘The Spectrums’ on the World Music Day 2022 in Mokokchung.
The Great Decade is a progressive four-member rock band formed in the year 2016 with Apang Aier on Vocals, Senti Longkumer on guitar, Tongpang Jamir on bass and Anok Pongen on drums.
The band members are of no strangers to music as they have had about roughly 10 years of experience with music with their former bands or as solo acts.
When they first met, they realized that they had a nice ring to their music and decided to form a band as Apang Aier, the front man suggested the name, The Great Decade.
The foundation of their music is Rock accompanied by bits of other genres especially that of metal, depending on the theme and concept of the song.
“We decided to stay off the radar for these few couple of years, avoided doing any gigs and went into a little phase of our own – in a good way. We have been doing a lot of writing ever since, always wanted to work on more original materials and deal with our incomplete songs,” the band shared.
They said time management was their greatest challenge as most of the time they ended up working with stuffs that wasn’t really their thing. Explaining the reason for their brief hiatus, the band said that they had to make a pause as they felt they were losing their music and identity.
“It wasn’t easy but it was either we do it or lose the gig or never get another gig. As musicians we had to adapt to it… pretty sure many artists have faced and are still facing that and it took a heavy toll on us and thought we were losing our sound and our identity. So we decided to stop doing everything we were doing,” the band explained.
“We just want to leave aside all the little achievements and good times we’ve had along the way and wish to make a fresh start as a band now,” they added.
“We are so glad to be getting back on track at ROCKVIVAL this world music day, an event organized by blendinevents and witness the headliners ‘About Us’ band and many other cool bands from our very own town,” the band concluded.
