Alemchiba of Moayimti village, currently residing in Salangtem Ward, is popularly associated with his gym in Arkong Ward, above UCF church, which goes by the name ‘Lean Wolf Gym’.
In his words, “Wolf is a symbol of loyalty, family, friendship and wolf is always in good shape,” and hence the genesis of the name, ‘Lean Wolf Gym’.
After graduating with Physical Education as his major subject in Chandigarh University, he pursued a Fitness Training Course – a passionate dream he had been pursuing from an early age.
“I feel good about myself when I see people transform physically or when their lifestyles change,” he said, in a conversation with Mokokchung Times.
Talking about his training style, he said, he trains all body parts equally as each part is equally important, but puts on extra effort on the weaker parts of the body.
Regarding how he tracks and assesses his client’s performance, he stressed on the importance of identifying and segregating clients according to their physique, needs and goals.
“I make a separate note of body measurements of everyone, because people come to gym for various reasons. Some people approach me with the need to either gain or loss weight, while others come with desires to work on their chest, biceps, triceps and so on,” Achi confirmed.
He also recalled how his fitness program even welcomed teenagers suffering from substance abuse and addiction, and have witnessed significant transformations towards healthier lifestyles.
According to Achi, nutritional diet is one of the most important aspects in ‘fitness world,’ irrespective of individuals. He, however, cautioned that people need to be wise in choosing ‘gym trainer’ as careers, taking into consideration, the many complications involved.
“A lot of people can learn from YouTube and different social media sites, which is very helpful, but that simply is not enough” he said. Expressing his concerns over how Nagas fail to understand the value of physical exercise, he pointed out the increasing cases of high blood pressure, diabetes and premature deaths due to those underlying conditions.
“I think it’s important to note that people do live longer, stronger and look younger when we keep our body fit. Anyone can become as fit as Shahrukh Khan if proper exercise is done,” he jested.
Talking about some of his greatest achievements as a gym trainer, Achi reminisced four clients, who he had trained, successfully making careers in the police and armed services.
“Just like you cannot enjoy the entire beauty of the town without going to the view point, you won’t be able to experience the real joy in working out. So, do join ‘Lean Wolf Gym’ and see the difference it makes in you,” he concluded, and urged people to work out and to do away with the stigma – “gyms are meant only for fat or skinny people”.
