The foundation of Naga society is based on the villages. In fact, every Naga is a villager. One may not be a resident of a village but every Naga hails from a native village and, therefore, every Naga is a villager.

As such, all the social issues that we are faced with today can be more effectively dealt with if they were addressed at the village level. Be it socio-economic, socio-political, socio-cultural or socio-environmental issues, any issue that has to do with society can be first addressed at the village level.

This is not to mean that the urban areas can be ignored but that addressing the issues at the village level is the most ideal way in the Naga context.

For instance, if every Naga village were to be plastic-free, or if every Naga village were to have a green policy, or if every Naga village were to encourage entrepreneurship, then the whole state would wear a totally different look, a much better look.

Even the issue of all pervasive corruption can be more effectively checked if an anti-corruption campaign were to begin from the village level.

Conversely, corruption in Nagaland will remain as long as it is not checked at the village level. Our socio-cultural assets and environmental heritage will deteriorate if it is not checked at the village level.

Our morals and ethos will be forgotten and gone in a matter of few generations if the same were allowed to erode in the village communities, which is already happening.

From our indigenous knowledge system to our heritage seeds, all will be gone if they are not preserved in the villages.

Things can be practiced and preserved in the urban setting to some extent but it will be nothing more than a replication of what was in the village.

The point is, every aspect of the Naga being is rooted in the village.
