Mokokchung, September 18 (MTNews): In response to the public apology demand made to K Therie by the 21 erstwhile NPF MLAs who merged with NDPP, Therie had tendered his apology to “decent and clean MLAs” and reiterated his previous stance that “he does not have evidence” for “money can be handed over by hand without receipt” and “drawn through blank cheques with the signatures obtained from VDB Secretaries”.
Therie had in July and August alleged that each of the 21 NPF MLAs who merged with NDPP, after merger, had received Rs 2.50 crore from the money taken out of the MGNREGA fund meant for developmental activities in villages. To this, on September 2, in a notice on behalf of the 21 MLAs, Dr. Chumben Murry threatened Therie of initiating defamatory proceedings against him in the court of law if he (Therie) failed to substantiate his allegations in complying with the request and “issue an apology in the same platform used to level the false charges”.
Therie then continued that according to his information, except for the three of them “who were placed in the Govt., the rest of the 19 MLAs was given (money)”.
“Nobody admits in taking bribes so denial is obvious. They mean they are all surviving out of their humble salary and allowances and personal incomes and are prepared to fight election with several crores,” he stated.
“I do not have any problem in tendering apology if they are denying in the heart of heart and before God. I am tendering apology to decent and clean MLAs. We are all Christian, God is our witness. As honest MLAs, I hope they admit to blank cheque system,” he concluded.
