Thunglamo Humtsoe is a young entrepreneur from Wokha District, transformed his passion for agriculture into a thriving business. After earning B.Sc. in Agriculture and M.Sc. in Soil Science from Allahabad Agriculture University, he was inspired by digital platforms like YouTube to venture into hydroponics. This led to the creation of Urban Grower, a hydroponic farming initiative headquartered in Wokha.

Hydroponics farming is a cutting-edge method of growing plants without soil, relying on a nutrient-rich water solution. His registered company TM hydrocultiva solutions private limited is specialize in providing the finest and healthiest hydroponically grown exotic lettuces year-round, including Italian Sweet Basil, Swiss Chard (rich in vitamins K, A, and C, and beneficial for heart health, weight management, and reducing the risk of diabetes), Romaine lettuce (known for its delicious flavor), mint, Lollo Rosso, Lettuce, Pok Choi, Purple Swiss Chard, Sage Herb, Mexican Mustard Leaf, Redvein Dock (an ornamental foliage with medicinal uses due to its oxalic acid content), Lacinato Kale, cabbage, Spinach, Kale, and Cherry tomatoes.
The Urban Grower farm has full time employees attached at the farm, and their farm grown products are delivered to Phek, Chümoukedima, Mokokchung, and Kohima; largely catering to restaurants, events and hand out home deliveries.
As the farm continuously attempts to improve its services and increase its production, Humtsoe believes that this subtle shift from traditional agriculture to hydroponic farming will enable the production of different varieties of food, at any time of the year and receive higher yields with fewer resources.
Thunglamo Humtsoe is an incubatee of the YouthNet Incubation Centre (YIC). This program, established in collaboration with Startup Nagaland, Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Nagaland, provides vital support and guidance to innovative startups, helping them scale and become sustainable businesses.
