The Tikhir Baptist Biti Atükhianti (TBBA) Peace Mission Team convened a reconciliation meeting between the TTC team led by P Timong and the team led by RT Kius at the Tikhir Baptist Church Conference Hall in Kiphire town on October 20, with both sides agreeing to work together and extend cooperation to the TTC led by Timong.
The meeting was chaired by M Tsulimthong, President of TBBA and Convenor of the Peace Mission Team, to address internal community matters, including disputes and misunderstandings concerning tribal leadership.
According to the meeting’s minutes, RT Kius and his team agreed to work with and extend their full cooperation to the TTC led by Timong, with both sides emphasizing reconciliation, unity and cooperation in the interest of the community.
The meeting also resolved to withdraw previous actions and orders arising from disputes at the tribal and organizational levels, including suspensions, expulsions, FIRs, declarations of disownment, non-cooperation measures and petitions before the High Court.
The minutes stated that previous orders or actions issued by either party, organization or village council concerning these disputes would be considered “null and void” and withdrawn with immediate effect. The agreement also cautioned against unilateral actions against members and called for individual responsibility in cases involving attempts to create division within the tribe.
It further urged community members to refrain from circulating statements on social media or other public platforms intended to defame, mislead or create division, and called for peace and harmony.
The reconciliation minutes were signed by representatives of both sides, including P Timong, N Yantsuthong and T Tsuthong, and RT Kius, S Moa Tikhir and T Wongsuthong.
Following the reconciliation meeting, a prayer program was held at TTC headquarters in Kiusam on October 21. The programme was chaired by Tsulimthong, with speeches delivered by TTC President Timong and Kius. A thanksgiving prayer was offered by Rev M Shiuto, Executive Secretary of TBBA.
Representatives of frontal organizations, village GBS members from Tikhir villages and members of both sides attended the program.
