The 31st MDCA T20 Inter Club Tournament organized by the Mokokchung District Cricket Association (MDCA) concluded today with Titans CC successfully defending their title by defeating Aongza & Kichutip Cricket Fraternity in the final at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung. This is Titans’ sixth title and second in a row.
Aongza & Kichutip Cricket Fraternity (A&K CF) won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 135/5 in 20 overs. Nehal Rai 41 (31), Asemba 38 (36) and Akumsunep 25 (32) were the leading run scorers for A&K CF in their maiden final. Basant and Toshimanen picked 2 wickets each for Titans CC while Sagar picked 1.
In reply, Titans CC successfully chased down the target in 18.5 overs to win the match by 4 wickets. Longsasunep 40 (38) not out and Basant 25 (15) not out guided the Titans to victory. Titans CC have been the most consistent and successful cricket club in Mokokchung in recent times.
Moatemjen and Opang both picked 2 wickets each while Imtichiba and Nehal also claimed a wicket each. However, they did not have enough runs on the board to restrain the batters and were unable to stop the Titans from winning the trophy yet again. Basant of Titans CC was adjudged the Man of the Match.
The champions were awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000 along with trophy and certificates while A&K CF received Rs 15000 with certificates.
