Two houses were completely razed down around midnight of August 5 at Chuchuyimpang village. Fire Services authorities have ascertained the cause of the fire to have been an electrical short-circuit in one of the houses which then spread to the other. No injuries or casualties were reported in the fire accident. Properties worth a combined estimate of Rs.38.10 lakhs were destroyed in the fire, authorities informed.
The villagers informed the accident to the Mokokchung Fire Station who immediately swung into action with 5 fire tenders and 23 personnel of the emergency response team led by Mokokchung Fire Station (Central) Officer Incharge Keleseho Stephen Tsukru and Mokokchung Fire Station (North) Officer Incharge Nungsangmeren. The fire was doused off before it spread to other houses in the neighborhood. (MTNews)
