Mokokchung, July 1 (MTNews): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), President, K Therie has alleged that “UDA is the roadblock to settlement and is responsible for prolonging the suffering of the people” and that the UDA “refused to recognize” the Framework Agreement and the Agreed Position.
Therie in a press release said that the “issue of Roadblock to political settlement” was discussed with Rahul Gandhi, MP and Member, CWC, accompanied by NPCC Vice President, V Lasuh and Dr Ajoy Kumar, AICC I/c of Nagaland. “Earlier in March 2020, I briefed the High Powered Committee, AICC, for support to the settlement of the two official agreements, to which the High Powered Committee agreed in principle. Rahul Gandhi was concerned as to why the agreements were not honoured; wondering why one should go back from an Agreement,” Therie narrated.
Therie said, “To clear the cloud, I have explained that the Framework Agreement (FWA) was the basis. The statement of Th Muivah, General Secretary, NSCN (IM) at Agri Expo in 2012 was confirmed in the FA that issues of Sovereignty and Integration were officially ruled out.” Therie also quoted the last paragraph as, “The two sides agreed that within this framework agreement details and execution plan will be worked out and implemented shortly” and continued, “the Government of India stood by the principles of FA and came to conclusion with Working Committee on Agreed Position.”
“UDA refused to recognize the two official agreements. They were the ones pushing Pan Naga Hoho (PNH). PNH is with demand of legislative and executive powers over the States (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur and Nagaland). The proposal was rejected by the states and also by the stakeholders,” he stated. Therie also said that even the Governor and Interlocutor in his address to the State Assembly announced that talks have concluded.
According to Therie, “One solution for all Naga inhabitants of various states and suggesting to provide land at the tri-junction of Ingtanki National Reserve Forest are all false hopes. In recent times, the Chairman UDA has made it clear that the Intangki National Reserve Forest cannot be part of the solution. UDA apparently appears to be divided on the issue.”
He stated that if the PM of India is at all honest in his announcement that the Naga Problem has been resolved as announced to the Nation and if BJP’s commitment of ‘Election for Solution’ is of any truth, time is running out for them to keep their commitments.
“To settle the problem, GOI has constitutional rights to dismiss the Roadblock – the UDA Govt. GoI is fully aware the Constitution has collapsed,” Therie said.
“Underground Govt Writs are applied everywhere and the state govt does not question. Knowing they are hand in glove, GOI had given clear direction to UDA Govt to convince NSCN(IM). Instead of convincing, they have engineered PNH,” Therie further said. He added that the Chief Minister even went to the extent to state that “GOI has not rejected Flag and Constitution.”
Further, Therie said stakeholders have also given “mandate to GOI for implementation with talks having been concluded since 2019” and reiterated that “UDA is the Roadblock to settlement and is responsible for prolonging the suffering of the people. Know your enemy and vote.”
I learned a lot from this article. Keep up the great work!
