A total of 17 candidates have filed their nomination papers on Friday, 7 June for the Nagaland Municipal and Town Council elections 2024, the State Election Commission, Nagaland informed.

The candidates, 11 male and 6 female, who filed their nominations on Friday at six Town Councils (TC) included eight Independent candidates, eight NPF candidates and one LJP candidate.

The nominations were filed in East Dimapur TC – 2 (male) Independent and 1 (female) LJP; Tuli TC – 1 (male) Independent; Jalukie TC – 1 (male) Independent; Bhandari TC – 8 (5 male & 3 female) NPF and 1 (male) Independent; Satakha TC – 2 (1 male & 1 female) Independent; and Aghunato TC: 1 (female) Independent.

The process of filing nominations for the Urban Local Body (ULB) elections, scheduled to be held on 26 June commenced today. Nomination papers may be delivered by the candidate or his proposer to the Returning Officer between 11 am and 3 pm on any working day from 7 June but not later than 11 June. Scrutiny of nominations will be held on 13 June and last date of withdrawal of candidature will be 20 June.
