Ungma Vandalization Case: RO appeal for peace

The Returning Officer of 26 Aonglenden AC, Longdiba L Sangtam, said he and the Additional SP of Mokokchung visited Ungma village today following the post-poll vandalization of the house in Ungma where Congress candidate for 26 Aonglenden AC, Toshipokba Longkumer was staying.

 

According to the RO, the duo met the Village Council as well as the NDPP candidate and INC candidate’s chief agent (as the candidate is in Dimapur for a meeting) and has appealed to both sides to maintain peace.

 

Meanwhile, police officials stated that the investigation is ongoing and that they have yet to meet with the victims, who have been shifted to Dimapur.

 

It may be noted that a house in Ungma village where Congress candidate for 26 Aonglenden AC, Toshipokba Longkumer was staying was reportedly vandalized and multiple vehicles were damaged on Monday evening after the polls had closed. Three people were also injured as a result of the incident.
