Union Minister of State for Electronics & IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who is on a three-day visit to Nagaland, arrived Mon district yesterday. The Union Minister travelled to Longwa village, at the Myanmar border, today where he conducted a review of central government schemes. The Union Minister met members of the Longwa village council and interacted with the district president and karyakartas of BJP at Longwa.

A PIB Kohima update said that the minister shared the vision of Prime Minister Modi on transforming North Eastern region as an “engine of growth for India’s economy.” He also emphasized on the government’s focus in developing remote towns and villages like Longwa. The Union Minister along with Rajya Sabha MP, S Phangnon Konyak this morning interacted with the youth over a breakfast meeting and apprised them about the opportunities that Digital India & Skill India has in store for them. Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar also visited the Mon District hospital and interacted with Doctors and frontline workers.

 

The Minister was accompanied by S Phangnon Konyak, MP Rajya Sabha, Mmhonlumo Kikon, Imnatiba Jamir, party karyakartas and senior officials representing the district administration, during the visit.

 

The Minister thereafter flew to Dimapur where he visited the traditional & Heritage cluster at Sovima Village and YouthNet Center Dimapur. The Minister also chaired a meeting with key officials of District Administration of Aspirational District Kiphire at Dimapur itself, since inclement weather did not permit travel to Kiphire. He was initially supposed to visit Kiphire. The Minister will be inaugurating five NIELIT Centers in North East Region tomorrow, including one in Dimapur.
