The three-day closing program of the Unity Mini Hornbill Festival and Pre-Christmas celebration took place at the DC Office Complex in Peren District on December 7, 2024. The event was graced by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in-charge of Planning & Transformation and National Highways, TR Zeliang, who served as the special guest, and NZPO President, Zandi Domta, as the chief host.

In his address, TR Zeliang expressed gratitude to the organizing committee members for their hard work and dedication in making the Unity Mini Hornbill Festival a success. He encouraged government officers and staff from various departments to work with enthusiasm for the betterment of the public. He further urged them to return after the New Year with renewed energy and spirit, committed to building the New DC Complex and Model Township. He emphasized that the realization of the dream set forth by the pioneers of the master plan was within reach if the community remained united and determined. Reflecting on the Pre-Christmas celebration, he expressed hope that the peace and hope symbolized by Christmas would ignite a renewed spirit in everyone.

Zandi Domta, in his brief speech, thanked the Deputy Commissioner and the Organizing Committee for inviting him to the event. He praised the current Deputy Commissioner of Peren as a dedicated officer working tirelessly for the district’s progress and extended his heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the Tribal Hohos. During the Unity Mini Hornbill Festival celebration, Zandi called for unity and solidarity among the people of Peren District to help move the district forward.

The program began with an invocation by Pastor KBA (N), Rev Tongpu Singson, followed by a welcome address by Jangdiat Gonmei, President of Rongmei Council Peren.

The event also featured a Christmas message from Fr Dr Francis Cheerangal, Principal of St Xavier College, Jalukie, and a special performance by Keyicitube Nza, winner of Peren Voice Impact Season 9. Prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners of various competitive events by the special guest and chief host.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by the Convenor of the Planning Committee.
