Nagaland Police advisory for driving license holders, vehicle owners

The Nagaland Police has issued a public notice urging all driving license holders and registered vehicle owners in the state to add or update their mobile numbers on the Parivahan and Sarathi portals. The move is aimed at ensuring better communication and compliance under the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019.

Vehicle owners can update their mobile numbers through the Aadhaar-based authentication process themselves or seek assistance from Nagaland Police personnel during routine Motor Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) exercises. It was advised that the mobile number added or updated must match the one linked with the owner’s Aadhaar.

To update the mobile number, vehicle owners should visit the Parivahan portal at www.parivahan.gov.in and follow the respective links for the Vahan portal and Sarathi portal. Users are required to enter their details, including mobile number, and authenticate using an OTP sent to their Aadhaar-linked number. The process must be completed on both portals.

The notice warned that failure to update mobile numbers by October 23, 2025, will lead to fines or penalties being imposed during vehicle checks, as per the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019. It also advised citizens to ensure compliance and ask for official receipts when fines are imposed.
