Wokha, December 8 (MTNews): The Wokha District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WDCCI) is organizing a night carnival at Wokha Town Police Point which kicked off on December 8 with K. Furhesie Nyuwi (NCS), Additional Deputy Commissioner Wokha as the special guest of the inaugural program.

Speaking at the short inaugural program, Nyuwi said that as the season of joy and celebration cornering the Christmas season, he called upon the shoppers and visitors to have a sense of true Christian spirit and called to forgive one another. He also informed the stalls owners and visitors to keep the town clean stating that many Naga societies lack civic sense and responsibility where he called to do away with old habits. He appreciated the organizers, WDCCI for providing a platform to the local vendors and entrepreneurs during festive season. He said that many of Naga society take such opportunity and enjoyment in different levels, where he reminded the youths to enjoy and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ in the right direction avoiding intoxication and other immoral activities.
Renpithung Kikon, president WDCCI in a short speech said that the motive behind organizing the carnival was to promote local vegetable vendors and entrepreneurs as well as students’ organization and various SHGs as many of the schools and colleges get over and it is a season of joy and through such event it can benefit and promote one another. He called everyone to be part of the eight days’ event in peace, love and forgiveness.
Zaranchee Murry member of Wokha District Entrepreneurs Association (WDEA) extended Christmas greetings to the congregation while he wished the stalls owners’ prosperous season of shopping. He also called the citizens of Wokha town to come and extend support to the local entrepreneurs so that it boosts the economy within the community.
The programme was chaired by Thungbeni Kikon, while a special number was presented by Megan Lotha and invocation was done by Zuboni Tungoe.
