Appeals not to take incident on tribal lines

Dimapur, 26 August (MTNews): The Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) on behalf of the family and relatives of Late Hozheto Yeptho has demanded that an ex-gratia be given by the state government to Late Hozheto Yepthomi who was murdered in the early morning hours of 24 August at ISBT complex Purana Bazaar, Dimapur.

The WSH said that the victim was “on the line of duty” when he was murdered and that he deserved to be honored posthumously. “Late Hozheto Yeptho was a very sincere, dedicated and diligent government employee who worked wholeheartedly and sacrificed even his life for the service in which he was employed,” the WSH said. It went on to say that Late Hozheto Yeptho died bravely while trying to protect the goods confiscated by the Customs department and kept in the trucks which were parked inside the ISBT complex.

A wife has now lost a loving husband while his children have lost a loving father who earned and fed them, it said. The WSH appealed to the state government as well as the department involved to look into the issue at the earliest and understand the plight of the deceased’s wife and children. “Such great sacrifice should not go unnoticed, unrewarded or in vain. He deserved to be honoured in a befitting manner and nothing less,” WSH maintained.

“The WSH also appeals that since Late Hozheto Yeptho had still more years to go in the service and gave his life on the line of duty, a family member be put in his stead on a compassionate ground,” it added.

Further, the WSH also appealed to everyone not to take the incident on tribal lines but as “an unfortunate happening.”
