An awareness programme on wildfire, themed “Our Forest, Our Responsibility,” was held at Asufii Christian Institute (ACI), Punanamei, Mao. The programme was jointly organised by the Senapati District Forest Division, Government of Manipur, the Department of Zoology, ACI, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell.

Divisional Forest Officer Shanngam S., IFS, highlighted the responsible use of fire and explained the link between traditional practices such as jhum cultivation and forest fires, stressing collective responsibility for forest protection. Dr. Lokho Pune, IFS (Retd.), spoke on forests as God’s creation and warned that even small-scale burning worsens carbon emissions and global warming.
Range Forest Officer Chokhoni Koso explained wildfire behaviour using recent local examples, while Alankrit Gautam, IFS, shared inputs on conservation. A poster competition on “Our Planet, Our Responsibility” was also organised.
