Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton has announced that he will begin conducting surprise visits to government offices in Wokha, aimed at bolstering accountability and improving public service delivery. The move follows a pattern of unannounced inspections he had previously carried out at the Secretariat in Kohima. “These interactions aim to strengthen accountability and service delivery across departments,” Patton said.
Patton made the announcement following the Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting, which he chaired earlier today. The session was attended by MLA Achumbemo Kikon, Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar (IAS), Superintendent of Police Rhovisie Nyuwi (IPS), DPO Orenpomo, and other key officials.
Describing the meeting as “productive,” Patton stated that the board reviewed ongoing development projects and explored strategies to further accelerate the district’s growth trajectory. He emphasized the importance of consistent administrative engagement, declaring that DPDB Wokha meetings will henceforth be convened either on the first or third Saturday of every month.
“DPDB Wokha meetings will be convened either on the 1st or 3rd Saturday of every month—bringing consistency to our efforts in planning and execution,” he said.
Before the board meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister felicitated meritorious students from Wokha who excelled in the 2025 HSLC examinations conducted by the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE). Patton lauded the students’ achievements as a reflection of their hard work and the support of their families and teachers. “Wishing them continued success as they shape a brighter future for themselves and our state,” he added in a social media post.
”Let us keep working together to build a more responsive and progressive administration for the people of Wokha,” Patton concluded.
