Mokokchung, 18 March (MTNews): Women Entrepreneurs Mokokchung (WEM) on Monday organized a Sales Day at the MMC Shopping Complex, contributing to the relief fund for the devastating fire incident that occurred on 3 February 2024.
The event took place with permission from the Additional Deputy Commissioner & Administrator of Mokokchung Municipal Council. Following through on their commitment, WEM has announced a donation of Rs. 17,500, equivalent to 10% of the day’s sales proceeds, towards the MMC relief fund.
Expressing their gratitude for the support and cooperation received from the ADC & Administrator, MMC, WEM said it looks ahead to further opportunities to contribute to the community in the days to come.
WEM, a collective of 20 women entrepreneurs specializing in various crafts such as jewelry, eco-friendly paper basketry, cakes, pickles, candles, and more, has been actively engaged in promoting entrepreneurship in Mokokchung. Recognizing that entrepreneurship in Nagaland is at its infancy and that grievances faced by the entrepreneurs cannot be denied, WEM said the group was formed to encourage each other and subsequently push the envelope for upcoming entrepreneurs.
It may be noted that WEM has also participated with pop up stores in various events one of which was the very recently conducted Mega Job Expo at Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung.
