The Works & Housing Department (Works Branch) has issued an addendum on March 18, 2025, providing further clarification regarding the Notification dated November 28, 2023. The addendum, which follows the minutes from the Cabinet meeting on February 25, 2025, defines the term ‘henceforth’ in relation to National Highway projects in the state.
According to the addendum, only National Highway projects in Nagaland that have been sanctioned by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) — including Administrative Approval, Technical Approval, and Financial Sanction for the work estimate — and implemented after November 28, 2023, will be entitled to land compensation and damage compensation under the aforementioned notification.
The Works & Housing Department further clarified that projects sanctioned prior to the notification date will not be eligible for land compensation, as the state government’s policy clearly excludes such claims.
This decision sets clear boundaries for future highway projects in the state, ensuring that only those initiated after November 28, 2023, will be eligible for compensation as outlined in the notification.
