Mokokchung, 6 June (MTNews): Nagaland University and all its campuses along with the rest of the world observed World Environment Day 2023 on 5 June at Nagaland University, headquarters Lumami. This year’s World Environment Day was based on the theme – ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’. Events such as poster making, painting and essay competition marked Nagaland University World Environment Day 2023 observation.

 

 

 

The event was held with Prof. Jagadish K Patnaik, Vice-Chancellor, Nagaland University as the Chief Guest and Dr N Senthil Kumar (IFS), Chief Conservator of Forests, Govt of Nagaland as Guest of Honor.

 

Registrar Dr Abemo, Finance Officer Albert, Deans, Heads of different Departments, officials, and students participated in the programme. The gathering was led by Dr. Latonglila Jamir, Convenor, World Environment Day 2023. Awards were handed out to the winners by the Chief Guest, Guests of Honor and Registrar. The World Environment Day message was delivered by Prof. Ashutosh Tripathi, Dept of EVS. A special song on the occasion was presented by the students of Nagaland University.

 

The program was chaired by Dr Lobino while Kahoshe Sumi delivered the Vote of Thanks. Commemorating World EnvironmentDay 2023, a plantation drive was carried out led by the Vice-Chancellor.

 

PRO i/c Ashish Kumar informed that the tree saplings were distributed to the various departments under Nagaland University and participants for the plantation drive.
