The Western Sümi Hoho (WSH) has issued an urgent appeal to the State Government, calling for immediate intervention to address the catastrophic situation faced by farmers in Aghunaqa, Niuland district. These farmers have endured unprecedented hardships for the past four to five years, compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic, natural disasters, and recent torrential rains.

According to WSH, the latest deluge has devastated crops, properties, and livelihoods, pushing farmers to the brink of collapse. The WSH emphasized that the situation demands immediate intervention and support as farmers struggle to come to terms with their losses.

“We implore the State Government to take swift and decisive action to address the farmers’ grievances,” the WSH stated. This includes a comprehensive assessment of the flood damage, prompt relief and compensation to affected farmers, and implementation of sustainable measures to counter the impact of natural calamities and climate change.

The WSH further added that supporting farmers in rebuilding their lives and revitalizing agricultural activities is vital at this critical juncture.

“We acknowledge the government’s efforts to address citizens’ needs and hope that they will treat this crisis with the gravity and urgency it warrants,” the WSH added.
