Wushu technical training underway in Kohima

Kohima, 9 January (MTNews): The three-day Wushu technical training organized by the Nagaland Wushu Association under the presidency of Kudecho Khamo, advisor for CAWD & Taxes commenced on Tuesday. Eleven trainees from various districts of Nagaland are participating in these technical sessions, set to conclude on January 11.

The course instructors, hailing from Manipur, include international referee Maibam Premkumar and Mayanglambam Bimoljit Arjuna Awardee.

During the introductory session, Mayanglambam Bimoljit, an Arjuna awardee remarked on the northeast’s success in Wushu, surpassing other states in medal counts. He urged the association to elevate Wushu to the highest level and promote it extensively.

N Ibungochoubi, executive member of the Manipur Olympic Association, expressed hope that this training would significantly impact Nagaland. He emphasized the need for Wushu trainers to nurture young talent and elevate the game’s standards in the state.

Neivikuolie Khatsu, joint secretary of the Nagaland Olympic Association, urged the trainees to act as impartial technical officials during matches, regardless of the district involved. He encouraged them to make the most of the training session, aspire for excellence, and absorb maximum knowledge.

Highlighting the positive aspects of Wushu, Khatsu mentioned its relatively new status in Nagaland but acknowledged its achievements in bringing laurels to the state. He emphasized the sport’s potential to thrive and contribute to the state’s progress.

Further, NWA General Secretary Akhozo stressed the importance of the three-day training, aiming to enhance the quality of technical officials and impart fundamental Wushu discipline to the trainees for grassroots development.

The Nagaland Wushu Association has taken the initiative to train officials from all affiliated district associations. The training covers Taolo and Sanda disciplines, granting qualified certificates to officiate in Nagaland Olympic events for Wushu discipline.
