The cherubic voices of almost 800 children’s voices filled Mokokchung’s town square on 21 December as 10 fellowships from Mokokchung Town Baptist Church competed in the XXXV Children’s Christmas Cake Carol Competition (C5) 2023.
A&D Fellowship, with their 105-strong rendition of “Khristmas Sempet,” clinched the C5 title. Tongdentsuyong Fellowship, comprising 89 children, secured the first runners-up position with their performance of ‘Jesus is born.’ A&B Fellowship, boasting 101 children, clinched the second runners-up spot with their rendition of ‘Christmas time.’
C5 has evolved into an integral Christmas tradition in Mokokchung. The town square buzzed with excitement as a multitude of onlookers gathered to witness the enchanting spectacle of children singing Christmas carols, marking the unmistakable onset of Christmas in Mokokchung.
