Newly elected Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) president Herole Y. called on young people to take a more active role in public affairs and raise their concerns directly with the government, particularly on employment, opportunities, privileges and skill development.
He was speaking at the NPYC Induction-cum-Thanksgiving Programme held at Premier Lodge, 4th Mile, Agri Expo, Chümoukedima, on September 26, where the newly elected NPYC leadership formally assumed office.
Herole Y. said he was taking up the responsibility “to serve, to listen, and to understand” while seeking to connect with the youth of Nagaland. He said a stronger and hardworking generation was emerging in the state but faced a lack of adequate platforms, facilities and employment opportunities.
He urged young people not to remain confined to their homes or limit themselves to expressing opinions from the sidelines, but to participate in public affairs and engage with the government on issues affecting them.
NPCC working president C. Apok Jamir described the occasion as coming at “a very opportune time” amid challenges facing the state and the country. He called on citizens, particularly the youth, to remain vigilant in safeguarding democratic and constitutional values.
The programme was preceded by a victory rally from the residence of Nagavito Sumi, senior leader, NPCC, PCC member from Ghaspani-I and advisor, NPYC.
The event also saw the presentation of appointment letters to the elected District Youth Congress presidents. Indian Youth Congress president Uday Bhanu Chib, who was scheduled to attend the programme, could not be present due to unavoidable circumstances.
