The Gospel Olympic cum Mega Sale, an initiative of the NBCC Youth Ministry organized by the Department of Youth Ministry, SBAK Nito Mount, is currently underway in Zunheboto Town. The event, themed “Life Race” and based on 1 Corinthians 9:24-25, aims to promote youth involvement through sports, showcase local talents, and incorporate biblical teachings while preserving cultural heritage.

Scheduled from October 7 to 9, the event features a variety of outdoor activities, including volleyball, a 100-meter race, and a marathon. Indoor games such as badminton and table tennis are also part of the festivities. The event has garnered participation from all 150 churches represented by 10 areas, demonstrating strong community engagement.

Jasper Achumi, Secretary of the Department of Youth Ministry at SBAK Nito Mount, highlighted the ministry’s efforts to reach all youth, acknowledging that not every young person may be drawn to biblical teachings alone. He emphasized the importance of involving youth in diverse activities and initiatives.

A key aspect of the event is the ministry’s commitment to environmental sustainability. Jasper noted that local churches are actively working to eradicate single-use plastics and are advocating for the use of natural materials that pose no harm to the environment.

In addition to promoting sports and cultural activities, the youth department is also making efforts to engage school dropouts. Currently running its sixth batch of driving classes, the program has successfully helped 29 youth secure various driving jobs. The ministry is also fostering musical talent through sponsorships from Sir Aron Asumi, Director of the Immanuel Music Academy, which supports four individuals annually.

To further assist educated but unemployed youth, the ministry has initiated online coaching in collaboration with coaching centers such as NPSE Mentors in Dimapur and Kohima. This ongoing project, set to span seven years, has already enrolled 120 youth in online coaching sessions.

The Gospel Olympic cum Mega Sale not only celebrates sports and culture but also aims to uplift the community by empowering its youth and promoting sustainable practices.

As the event continues through October 9, it promises to be a transformative experience for the youth of Zunheboto Town, fostering a spirit of teamwork, cultural pride, and environmental responsibility.
