Mokokchung District participated at the 1st Inter district GHSS/GHS Athletic Meet 2021- 2022 session held at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima on 5th of May 2022, organized by the Department of School Education (DoSE) and funded by Samagra Shiksha Nagaland.
Kohima with a medals tally of 15 was followed by Dimapur with 11 medals and Mokokchung with 8 medals.
Mokokchung district was represented by 8 boys and 8 girls from various government schools around the district wherein, in the Girls category, Imchasenla from GHSS Mangmetong secured 3rd in the 100m race, Omensenla Lemtur from GHSS Mongsenyimti secured 3rd in the 200m race and Purjungla from Langpangkong Tsukong GHS Chuchuyimlang secured 3rd in Javelin throw.
In the Boys category Imkongwapang, Hiptur Reheman and Takasanen Longkumer from GHSS Mayangnokcha secured 3rd , 3rd and 2nd positions in the 100m, 200m and 3000m races respectively, while Wangnai from GHS Mokokchung Village secured 2nd position in the 800m race and N. Paugam Phom from Langpangkong Tsukong GHS Chuchuyimlang secured 1st position in Discus throw.
A brief felicitation program for the medalists and participants was held at DEO Office, Mokokchung on 6th of May 2022.
