Mokokchung, 24 October (MTNews): After fourteen days of grueling training, the 2nd intensive free boxing coaching camp organized by Boxing Association Mokokchung (BAM) in collaboration with the Department of Youth Resources & Sport and Nagaland Amateur Boxing Association culminated on October 24 at P Shilu Ao Park, Imkongmeren Sports Complex with a small program where the participants and coaches were handed certificates.
A total of thirty-one upcoming boxers of different age groups, both boys and girls, registered for the camp which was coached by L Chophy of Department of Youth Resources and assisted by two state boxers from Khelo India Sports Centre for Excellence (Boxing) namely, Uzhozu Neinu and Manchen.
At the valedictory program, Coach L Chophy, while expressing his deep satisfaction at the great turnout at the program, commended the participants for learning the different techniques of boxing quickly. He expressed his optimism that the young participants, within the next five years and if continued with their diligence, would excel not only in the state and northeast, but also in the national and international levels.
BAM Executive member, Alemyanger Jamir, while exhorting the gathering, encouraged the students to be disciplined and keep their focus straight so that they can excel not only in sports but also in their lives too. He also read out a short message conveyed by the Nagaland Amateur Boxing Association (NABA) President Meren Paul.
The program was chaired by Tajungla Longkumer, BAM Executive member while Moa Jamir, the Associate Pastor (Youth Ministry) of Yimyu Baptist Church, invoked god’s blessings.
