Mokokchung, 24 October (MTNews): The Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) has announced that the Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2024 (NOPG) will be held from 8 to 13 January 2024. It has been informed that some disciplines will begin on an earlier date, which will be notified separately.
The list of disciplines has been determined according to the forthcoming North East Olympic Games, taking into consideration available infrastructure and resources. The list of disciplines is as follows: Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Football, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Tennis, Boxing, Wrestling, Volleyball, Belt Wrestling, Sepak Takraw, Wushu, and Pencak Silat.
It has been informed that each State Sports Association will issue a competition notification separately. A separate notification related to the Paralympic discipline will be issued by the Paralympic Committee. The list of medal events for all the disciplines will be notified separately, and the contingents will be determined based on the 16 districts of Nagaland.
The registration of players and teams will be done electronically online, starting from the 1st of December 2023, with the last date for submission of players’ and officials’ registration being the 15th of December 2023. It stated that once players are registered, there will be no changes allowed.
The Games Organizing Committee will provide accommodation, local transport, food, and technical competition arrangements in the host city. The dates for arrival and departure will be notified separately.
Preparatory expenditure will be sanctioned to respective District Sports Councils based on the number of accredited participants representing the district. A separate notification on this matter will be issued, it added.
The coordinating officials from the Nagaland Olympic Association will be: a) Mr. Neivikuolie Khatsu (Assistant Secretary General, NOA) – 8415035565 and b) Ms. Khuvinu Tase (Office Assistant, NOA) – 8415035548. They can be contacted between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM on working days (Monday to Friday).
All districts have been requested to appoint a Chef de Mission and 2 Deputy Chiefs de Mission. The names, contact numbers, and email addresses of these officials should be sent to the NOA at email@example.com, no later than 30 November 2023.
